Is it Possible to Get a False Negative Paternity Test Result?
I know it’s impossible to get a false positive but what about a false negative result? I ask because a friend of mine had a DNA test done and it came back that he was not the father.
She swears that he’s the only one she was with. Could the lab have made a mistake?
Thanks in advance for any help.

It is possible to get a true false negative. Some people carry two seperate strans of DNA in their body and in different areas of their body. This is tricky to discover. The person’s blood would test as one persons DNA, and an organ biopsy would test as a completely different person’s DNA and both samples would come from the same person!!!
It is possible. It is said to be rare, but it makes you wonder, how many people have conducted at home DNA tests or court ordered DNA tests and been cleared from liability of paternity or a crime when it was a false negative.
Is there any way to legally force a man re-tested if they have already been ruled out as the biological father? I ask this because when I had gotten pregnant with my son I did sleep with 2 different men that month. I had both men tested and both tests came back negative. I couldn’t understand how that could possibly happen but it did. THERE ARE NO OTHER MEN THAT COULD POSSIBLY BE MY SONS FATHER!!! Soon after I received the results I went to the courts and asked if I could get a re-test done and was told that unless the alleged fathers agreed to re-test that the courts would not force them to take a second test. 12 years later I’m still researching and know that there are certain genetic anomalies or mutations that can cause a false negative. I have never received any help for my son because of these results and sadly enough i had to explain to him what had happened and hope and pray that he believes me. If anyone knows how I can get a court to order a re-test please help.
